In Montana, we only have a few more weeks of warm weather before we are headed into the cold, frigid months.
So for now, we are going to soak up the sun as much as we can! My favorite activity to do with my girls is go for a walk. We may end up at the dog park or just walk a few blocks but they love the smells and sights. I put together a little bucket list if you will of summer fun you can enjoy with your furbaby because we haven’t done all of these yet, but we are getting to it!
Dog Park Day
If you’re like me, then you love taking your dog to the dog park so you can pet other dogs. No? Just me?
Slowly I am working toward getting my German Shepherd Nyla aquatinted with other dogs without fear and aggression. It’s working! But we tend to only take her when the park is empty just to ease her anxiety. On the other hand, my Siberian Husky Sierra loves all people and dogs! She is free to go if other pups are around.
We have this new thing that is really neat it’s the ChuckIt Launcher that throws tennis balls far enough to tire your dog out (seriously) I can make a separate post all about it! It’s a great item to take to the dog park.
I love hiking in Montana. The mountains are beautiful and the sky is so big! That’s why we call it Big Sky! I took my girls hiking a few times, nowhere drastic with a lot of uphill, but it was enough. 5 miles and two tired puppies later I was carrying my poor Nyla the rest of the way! But, she is much older now that she will go the whole 5 miles no problem. We take breaks too, to drink water and sniff around. Hiking is a great activity especially for dogs that love sticks. Sierra spends most of her time picking out new ones along the way.
Even if it’s just around town, let the top down and go for a ride! Dogs love the new sights and smells.
Go For a Swim
Yes, we are those dog parents. We bought a kiddie pool and filled it up in our backyard. They went nuts! I think Nyla enjoyed it the most.
Attend Events in Your Town
Coming up we have a few events tailored to dogs and cats. I’m planning on bringing my puppies! It’s a fun thing to do, especially if it’s free! Just being around other dogs and pet owners makes me feel welcomed. It’s also a great way to socialize your furry friends.
Take the last few weeks and enjoy the weather! But don’t be too discouraged, fall and winter brings even more activities!
